Stuffed animals help you repackage your spirit.
I loved my stuffed animals!
Each animal had its own personality and I loved how each character would be able to give me “that look”.
I remember the conversations I would have with each bear and dog. I would spill my heart and soul into each of them. The fears I shared with one dog I would come back to celebrate my success.
So why is it so difficult to finally get rid of those smelly, dusty and so loved stuffed animals? Especially the ones sitting in your parent’s attic begging.
Then something came to me when I realized these loved stuffed animals ARE YOUR heart and soul.
They brought security and unconditional love. They absorbed all your tears and fears. They always took your side. They were always waiting for your return and at times went along for the ride.
As adults it is often suggested we journal to release our thoughts. Share our emotions with the pen to help us through and get clarity of situations. As children, we have not yet developed that skill!
We would color, draw or talk with our fabric buddies. As adults, we are encouraged to write for coloring, drawing or worse yet, being seen having that conversation with our fabric friend, are seen as juvenile. And for those that do, you are the brave ones!
Many adults are afraid of journal writing thinking someone might read their words, be found out, or the reader would take something the wrong way. The words are yours. They are muddy. They are enlightening. They are encouraging. They show you back who and what you are. Your spirit. Bumped, bruised, held and loved.
Your stuffed animals offered that as well.
They showed you who and what you are. Your animals offered a journal of verbal words, tears, laughter, creativity, your spirit and your love.
We cannot throw or toss our spirits into the garbage. We grow out of stuffed animals. It did its job just as a journal with a gray cover imprinted “weird” speaks. Each book is a new stuffed animal, and it gets put away. We part with it when we feel we have grown through that edition.
I call stuffed animals that can be crushed, smashed and be rolled up into a ball having the ability to bounce back into its original shape passing the SNUGGA-HUGGABILITY Test.
When I felt crushed, smashed and rolled myself up into a ball I would lean on the light of my stuffed animals to help me bounce back into shape knowing they had my back, love and repackaged my spirit to show up.
Meet Fuzz. He is that last of the animals I have kept through the years. My husband gave him to me when we were dating in High School. Fuzz and my journals help me repackage my spirit daily to show up my best each day.
The next time you see a room of stuffed animals take time to cherish the conversations, secrets and spirit light they carry to shine back upon their owner. That light helps repackage one’s spirit to be able to shine through.
